Gillian Anderson boycotts TV.
Which is pretty easy to do, when you no longer have a hit tv show.

Former X-FILES star Gillian Anderson will never appear on TV again, claiming it is destroying society.
The actress has stuck to movies since quitting the series in 2002 - recently appearing in Academy Award-winning film The Last King Of Scotland. And although she is rumoured to be reuniting with David Duchovny for another movie version of the hit sci-fi show - she insists she would rather be unemployed than return to the small screen.
Anderson tells PageSix, “My God, I don’t even watch television. I don’t like television. I never have liked it. The whole concept of sitting down in front of a TV feels like one of the things that’s destroying society, as far as I’m concerned.”

Bite the hand that feeds you much? An idiotic comment, if you ask me. Not that she’s entirely wrong, but coming from a TV STAR–on a hit show such as she had, no less–it just feels inappropriate and most definitely unappreciative.

Agreed! What’s with these celebs making these ludicrous statements?? One of my favorites? Madonna saying that everything she did before the age of 40 was trash. HELLO??!! Everything she’s made since she had kids is CRAP!!

What a hypocrite!

Oh boo-freakin-hoo! You were on a hit tv show that paid you millions, you are famous b/c of it. I hate it when “celebs” do this crap, makes you want to never watch them again on re-runs or see any of their movies b/c of their diva-like behavior. Millions of views sat in front of their tv to watch you on X-Files, what a slap in the face to fans.

… and sitting down in front of a movie screen is much different?

“…she insists she would rather be unemployed than return to the small screen.” What does she consider “Bleak House” to be then?

What a complete and utter ass.

Ugh…. Gillian, dear… Remember who you are talking to? Yeah, that’s right. We’re the ones who have sat down in front of a ’small screen’ and watched 9 seasons of YOUR TV show. I mean, I love the woman to death, but seriously! Come on now, that is a tad over the top.

Well, I can’t say I am surprised. Many TV stars over the years have displayed utter ingratitude toward the shows which made them famous. Phil Silvers tried to disown Sgt. Bilko for years; Andy Griffith once told an interviewer he could never work with Don Knotts again (back in the days he was trying to become a movie star but eventually came back to sanity); McLean Stevenson, for the rest of his life, tried to outrun the ghost of Henry Blake; Michael Richards shooting himself in both feet trying to cram Cosmo Kramer into the grave of characters past; the list is endless. When will many of these actors learn to embrace the things which made them famous in the first place? Maybe then, they can go on to even more success. Just my “two cents worth”.

This doesn’t surprise me, except for the fact that she did go onto do Bleakhouse after x-files — hum???

If she didn’t like TV, why bother to audition for the x files in the first place? this really gets to me! She should have been more honest with chris carter when he fought to get her the part of Scully!
