Jeremy Irons: ‘I Am Unconvinced That Smoking Kills You’
Jeremy Irons fears the coming English ban on smoking in public places will change some of his life-long habits, including staying at posh London hotel The Savoy. The star says he will have to give up some of his favorite hobbies when the national ban comes into force this July.
He says, “I think the character of places across London will be changed by the ban. I went to the Savoy recently only to find that I couldn’t smoke, so I won’t be staying there again. Smokers will go to different places.”
And Irons believes he won’t die from his nicotine addiction. He adds, “Personally, I am unconvinced that smoking kills you. I think genetics takes a more important role.”

Anyone who thinks this way is a fucking idiot - my father smoked, and he died of lung cancer.
But, hey, just keep smoking so you can see for yourself (hopefuly you have a child who can also see for themselves too… they will never forget you on your death bed.)

HAHA I was married to an ignorant redneck who believed exactly this. We used to go round and round about it. Idiot. Smoking makes you *feel* like shit, come on! You can’t tell me that someone actually believes it’s “Ok”, healthwise, for you to smoke. I say this as a recent quitter - after 15 years. Asthma sucks.

it was very pleasant to see my beloved mother dying of cancer and other diseases caused by smoking.
actually its normal that genetic kills someone so young as she was.

if he wants to smoke, do it.go ahead. but dont try to convince me that its a good healthy habit.

Thank God for Jeremy Irons! It’s high time avid smokers take a firm stance on Smokers’ Rights! Smokers’ have rights, too! STOP THE SMOKING BAN!!!! By the way, there is NO SOLID EVIDENCE that smoking causes cancer! You can blame the cigarettes all you want on family members deaths, but it’s all genetics!
