Jake Gyllenhaal to play Captain Marvel?
New Line, the studio behind ‘Lord of the Rings’, is set to make Jake Gyllenhaal an offer he can’t refuse – in order to cast him as Captain Marvel.
Joblo.com reports that New Line is desperate to secure the star for the adaptation of the comic ‘Shazam!’ in case he agrees to be the next Spiderman instead.
As previously reported, Tobey Maguire confirmed he will not be returning Spiderman 4, and as many film fans know, Gyllenhaal lost a bitterly fought battle to land the role back in 2001.
With Gyllenhaal looking like the logical replacement, New Line are reportedly keen to intercept the actor before any offer is made.

Spider-Man’s not suppose to be hot and sexy, he’s suppose to be a lanky, nerdy, awkward and average guy and Tobey’s done a wonderful job. He’s the only right Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
