Before checking in to Promises rehab center in Malibu for the second time, Britney Spears enjoyed a strange, bewildered day with two new friends.
Bright and early on February 17, a newly bald Spears arrived at L.A.s chic Mondrian hotel, ready to catch some rays. But the star was denied a room due to lack of credit cards or cash.
By 11 a.m., an undeterred Spears, 25, had stripped down to a bra and panties poolside, then shaved her legs in the pool bathroom.
“It was sad,” says a source. “It looked like she really needed a friend.”
She got two – at least for a few hours. Around noon, Spears (then in a blonde wig) began chatting up a woman in the bathroom, who offered to loan the pop star a bathing suit.
Spears followed her new friend to her hotel room where — after changing into a borrowed bikini — she raided the minibar.
“She grabbed four or five bottles and just started mixing everything and drinking them.”

Carrie Fisher has topped a new Internet poll to find the Hottest Nerd Crush of all time. The actress’ portrayal of Princess Leia in Star Wars beat Gillian Anderson’s X-Files detective Dana Scully in the new Maxim.com hit list, which focuses on the hottest comic book characters and sci-fi stars.
The top 10 list is:
- 1. Carrie Fisher (Star Wars)
- 2. Gillian Anderson (The X-Files)
- 3. Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix)
- 4. Grace Park (Battlestar Galactica)
- 5. Lara Croft (Tomb Raider computer game vixen)
- 6. Famke Janssen (X-Men)
- 7. Jeri Ryan (Star Trek: Voyager)
- 8. Aeon Flux (comic book heroine)
- 9. Jennifer Garner (Alias)
- 10. Natasha Henstridge (Species).
Did your nerd crush make the list? Sweet picture, by the way. I’ve got 2 boys…I’ve seen ALL the Star Wars movies at least a hundred times. I don’t remember the Star Wars where Princess Leia went to the beach. But maybe I missed that part.

As various parties continue to fight over the remains of Anna Nicole Smith and custody of her baby, John Travolta has stepped into the fray.
The Pulp Fiction star has decided to use her death as a chance to promote Narconon – the controversial Church of Scientology drug rehab programme – saying it could have saved the Playmate’s life.
A toxicology report from the 39- year-old’s autopsy has not been completed yet, but methadone and other drugs were discovered in the Florida hotel room where she died earlier this month.
Travolta said: ‘It’s so sad. We could have helped her with Narconon but didn’t get a chance to. I wish we had.’
The 53-year-old worked with Smith on the film Be Cool.
Narconon has been widely criticised for its unorthodox and controversial methods which include an intensive running programme, large doses of vitamins and long sauna sessions, designed to ‘run out’ drugs and ‘radiation’ from the body.
Scientologists claim Narconon is 85 per cent effective.
However, critics say it is a front to recruit vulnerable drug abusers into the religion.
