ABC to Dr. Burke: BEND OVER!
ABC has gotten around to responding to Isaiah Washington’s use of a gay slur at the Golden Globes, and, no, they’re not at all happy about it.
The ABC statement, according to TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello, says, in part, “We are greatly dismayed that Mr. Washington chose to use such inappropriate language at the Golden Globes, language that he himself deemed ‘unfortunate’ in his public apology issued at the time of the original incident. We have a long standing policy to create and maintain respectful workplaces for all our employees, and his actions are being addressed.”
Washington said he had “never” called gay castmate T.R. Knight “a faggot” after Monday’s Golden Globes. Knight told Ellen DeGeneres that he had in fact heard Washington use the term during a scuffle with Patrick Dempsey on the set of “Grey’s Anatomy.”
It is unclear when the network will make a decision on Washington’s future on the show.
Honestly, I couldn’t care LESS if Isaiah get’s the boot. His character on GA drives me NUTS. I think he totally overacts most of the time. He’s annoying, and I think ABC should kill his character off, then use his body for science. But that’s just my opinion.

His character annoys me too. If they don’t kill him off, they could always make his character become gay. That would be funny!

I think that they should just replace the actor. It will take a few episodes, but I think everyone would get use to a new actor in the character slot. They shouldn’t kill the character just because the actor is a monstrous idiot.

It ticks me off at the double standard. If TR Knight had made a racial slur, he would have been immediately fired.

Karen you took the words right out of my mouth. Any racial slur would not have been tolerated but they just gloss over the homosexual ignorant remark (I’m a straight woman). This is bullshit and he should have been fired when he originally said it. The show will carry on just nicely without him, but not if T.R. or anyone else were to leave.

this is the problem with hollywood though. mel gibson makes his remarks about jewish people, gets a lot of bad press for a few days but life goes on. he’s still making millions of dollars. i bet everyone has already forgotten about Kramer’s (can’t think of the actors real name) outburst at his comedy show and his racist rant!
Its sad really. should he lose his job? perhaps. he obviously has issues he needs to work on..and i definitely do not have any respect for him at all….. but then what about Mel and all the other actors who have made crazy statements lately? they get a free pass?
