David Arquette Recalls Abusive Upbringing
David Arquette and his siblings grew up in an abusive home, but he insists his troubled mother received the help she needed and was eventually able to turn her life around. Arquette, who is married to Courteney Cox, grew up the youngest of five famous siblings, the others being Rosanna, Patricia, Richmond and Alexis.
The 35-year-old appeared on radio show host Howard Stern’s program on Wednesday, when the shock jock asked him about claims Patricia had made that she was beaten.
Arquette explains, “Yeah, well my mother came from a dysfunctional family and she was abused and she was abusive. Especially on the older kids. I got a little of it. But then, my mom ended up going on and becoming a marriage and family counselor. It’s an amazing thing, because she broke the cycle.”
I don’t know why…but given all the kids in that family - this news does NOT suprise me.

UM yeah. Somehow, I always felt like theirs was a crazy family. Now we know why. I really like David. He must be one of the YOUNGER siblings that did NOT experience the abuse. Lucky chap!

“given all the kids in that family - this news does NOT suprise me.”
WHAT the heck was that supposed to mean? Why should kids with lots of siblings be more likely to be abused? I am the third oldest of 8 siblings and I can tell you, our parents are NOT abusive. Yes, we’ve all been spanked, and I absolutely agree with it. We also have several friends with large amounts of kids (12 and 14 specifically) and to my experience, families with lots of kids are usually that much more affectionate and close to each other.
Yep, I’m the ultimate weirdo - homeschooled, lots of siblings, parents still married (gasp!) shares a room, and all that ‘weird’ stuff. And yes, I’m a Christian too.
But guess what? I LOVE MY LIFE. I would not have it any other way. I would not trade my family or my lifestyle for all the ipods and designer clothes in the world. I wouldn’t go to public school if you paid me - I disagree with the whole system, and the mindset, and the attitude. And I’m definitely going to homeschool my own kids if I ever have any, which I hope I do.
I’m sorry about the big speech, but your comment just really rubbed me the wrong way.
