In case you missed it, EL’s burned down yesterday.
I totally expected her to have a nicer house than that. It’s totally just a regular ol’ house…I laughed so hard when I saw that air conditioner in the window. I mean, she is on one of the biggest TV shows right now?!

I think that it is great that she did not appear materialistic. With a house like that, she seems more down to earth and like the majority of society. I really feel bad for her right now. I don’t know what I would to if that happened to me. I would be devistated.

She even lived w/ roommates.. Maybe she actually wanted to have some emoney left when her show ended.. instead of blowing it on a big ole’ house..

Just because she has money doesn’t mean she has to spend it on frivolous things. I think it is so refreshing to see an A list actress/actor living life unpretentiously. To me is shows a REAL person with good character.

Well, dearie, regarding your a/c in the window remark, having grown up about 10 miles away from Kailua, I can tell you that very few houses actually have central air — it’s just not needed with all the trade winds. However, there are a few days out of each year when the trade winds stop, and that’s when an a/c unit comes in handy. I’d guess she lives in Kailua because it’s a gorgeous beach community, and only 30 mins from Honolulu/Waikiki. Houses there are in short supply.

Even though the house doesn’t look like much, it is worth millions. If you will look just beyond the house, you can see kailua Beach. One must either me extremely rich or homeless to live on that beach.

Not to mention that real estate in Hawaii is outrageously priced.
It’s refreshing to see a famous person not buy ten houses worth millions of dollars when you can only be in one at a time!

I agree with everyone’s comments she seems very much a homebody, and it’s hard to be that when you have a two story, eight room house. lol. I also know she’s only renting. I don’t think that she ever had permanent plans to stay there. She probably only plans to stay until the show ends, or she’s killed off. There are new pics with her and Dominic returning to the house. She did manage to smile at a bra she found and Dominic was able to find some photos.

I lived in Hawaii for a while and even the “rich” don’t necessarily have central air…it’s not necessary. You get the trade winds off the ocean that keep everything nice and cool!

Oh, I didn’t realize that because someone is a celeb that HAVE to live in a house 50 Xs bigger than what they really need.

Why should she have a mansion just because she’s rich? Britney’s house, for example, is totally flamboyant and showy and in-your-face. I like that Evangeline has a normal house. It makes her seem more down to earth.
Maybe she doesn’t like rattling around in her house like a pea in a coffee can.

I never said there was anything wrong with her having a regular house… I just said that I EXPECTED her to have a nicer house. It’s not often that you see a celebrity living in a normal – everyday house. That was my only point…

Remember LOST is her first serious acting gig so after LOST is done who knows if she’ll get more jobs. She’s even said herself that she doesn’t want to act forever. I think it’s a smart move because in this industry you’re hot one minute and not the next. She is a homebody and hates the limelight and besides she works so much she’s barely home so why would she have a big ol huge house that would barely be lived in? If her house burning down was accidental she doesnt have to pay anything because she rented it out. Just glad no one was hurt.

I think Evangeline Lilly learned a lesson from the mistakes of MC Hammer. Don’t blow all your money, because you never know how long success will last!
