‘Happiness’ is in store for Julia Roberts
Julia Roberts will produce a feature adaptation of Lolly Winston’s bestselling novel “Happiness Sold Separately,” with an eye to star in the pic.
Scott Coffey (”Ellie Parker”) will direct and adapt.
“Happiness Sold Separately” is centered on a suburban wife and her withdrawal from her husband as he begins an affair with the nutritionist at their gym.
Coffey said, “I couldn’t get Julia out of my head when I was reading Lolly’s book. Elinor is such a strong, complicated woman, and bringing her to the screen required Julia’s integrity, empathy, humor and legs.”
Roberts is in production on Universal’s “Charlie Wilson’s War” and is voicing the title character in “Charlotte’s Web.” She’s attached to star in and produce “The Friday Night Knitting Club” for U and Christine Peters, and is developing a feature based on the American Girl doll characters with Walden Media and Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas.
