Mel B: Eddie is My Baby’s Father
Former Spice Girl Melanie Brown is speaking out against Eddie Murphy’s recent statements questioning whether or not he is the father of her unborn child.
“I am obviously upset and distressed at some of the comments made by Eddie Murphy to the media,” the singer, who is five months pregnant, says in a statement. “I was astonished by what Eddie said – there is absolutely no question that Eddie is the father. My main concern is to concentrate on the well being of my daughter and baby.”
During a recent appearance on the Dutch talk show RTL Boulevard, Murphy, 45, was asked if he was happy with Mel “since she’s pregnant with your child.”
“You’re being presumptuous because we’re not together anymore,” Murphy responded. “And I don’t know whose child that is, until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn’t jump to conclusions, sir.”
Murphy began dating Brown (also known as “Mel B” and “Scary Spice”) in June. However, the actor brought film producer Tracey Edmonds to the premiere of his film Dreamgirls on December 4, where she told reporters that the two have been dating for a month-and-a-half.
This news likely surprised Brown, 31, who said earlier this week, “We’re in love…I can’t wait to spend Christmas with him, and I can’t wait to have this baby.”

i can’t wait to see eddie murphy eat his words. i understand ppl’s point of view when they say “oh she’s an adult, she should have known better”, but obviously she thought they were in love and probably got caught up in the heat of the moment. we’re ALL guilty of that at some point, it’s just pregnancy is not always the outcome. but i bet if it was, there would be A LOT of kids w/out fathers runnig around.
