Eva Mendes in the November issue of C Magazine.

On being the youngest sibling in her family by 10 years and being conceived after a brief separation between her parents: “I’m the product of makeup sex!”
On her longtime boyfriend writer, director and producer George Garurevich: “I’m a little uncomfortable talking about him. I’m a very open person, but he’s a very private person. I don’t want to disrespect him. I love him to pieces; he’s my rock. Thank God he’s not an actor. I used to date actors. Somebody in the relationship has got to be stable.” ·
Laughing about herself and actress clichés - “I live in the Hollywood Hills; I eat sushi with half the rice; I’m buying a hybrid SUV and now I want to produce.”
On growing up in the Los Angeles area: “Even though I was in LA, I had a pretty insular upbringing. We were very working-class, very normal. I was too scared my mother or brother would catch me making out with my boyfriend and literally kill me, to act out. Also, until 17, my nose seemed big, my teeth bigger, and I was 80 pounds with short short hair. I was way too insecure to be an actress. I wasn’t comfortable in my own skin until later.”
When she’s not working: “I have no trouble laying in bed for 14 hours. I’m not joking. I think sleeping is one of the most amazing things ever. I can go 14 to 15 straight hours with no breaks. I could sleep you out, dude! Eight is so yesterday! I have a very intimate relationship with my subconscious.”
