Winona Ryder boycotted this month’s Cannes Film Festival because she hasn’t yet recovered from her shoplifting conviction four years ago, according to her co-star Keanu Reeves.
Reeves and Robert Downey Jr. were left to promote A Scanner Darkly (above pics) at the festival without Ryder, who has avoided the limelight since she was found guilty of stealing from a Beverly Hill department store in 2002. Reeves explains, “Robert and I were speaking of how we miss her and wish she was here because she’s such a delightful person and really good actress. “But, for her to be here and have to deal with all these other kinds of questions - I don’t know if she’s quite ready to do that.”
The Playboy boss is desperate to produce a biopic, detailing his rise to the top of the male magazine industry. And he has pinpointed Jackman as the perfect man to play him, after watching the Australian actor in X-MEN: THE LAST STAND. Hefner says, “I’d love Hugh to play me.” In real life, the two Hughs couldn’t be more different. While Hefner, 80, lives in the Playboy mansion with three younger girlfriends, family man Jackman, 37, is happily married with two adopted children.
